Owen Wilson Cuts Through My Clutter as clueless, affable "That Guy" on STP Radio ads

Rarely does a radio ad reach out and grab me. But I've been hearing ads for STP (products that augment gas or oil in your car) featuring Owen Wilson's immediately recognizable California surfer-dude voice. He goes on to describe "that guy" ... a clueless guy who doesn't have the chops to do basic maintenance on his own car, and he admits to being "that guy" and vows to reform by using STP. The ads are funny and brilliant, and they break right through by using a voice that sounds like a friend.

I remember watching Michael Jackson as the young kid in the Jackson 5 - wishing in some way that I could be up there too. As he grew, I watched a dynamic young singer rewrite the rules of the game. I respect his music and his talents and as with most people in the spotlight, I did not pay attention to his personal life. As I grew up, I no longer desired the stage and now wonder if being in the spotlight so young gave him the super stardom, but the tragic personal life as well. Blessing MJ!
